ankaree: (Holidays 001)
...bites us in the ass! Yesterday we had the snowstorm from hell. Mr. Winter decided to throw everything at us. Snow, sleet, ice pellets, freezing rain and high winds. The high winds were awful. Causing trees to come down and power outages. I kept expecting one of the trees around our house to come crashing through the roof. Thank God that didn't happen, but we did lose power for a few hours.

This has been one of our snowiest winters in over 37 years and this latest storm gave us our biggest snowfall this winter. Dumping around 40cm (15 inches) once it was over. We've almost reached the highest total snow fall on record. The highest was in 1971 with a total of 383 cm (150 inches) for the season. After yesterday's storm, we're at 356 cm (140 inches). Our average total snowfall is usually around 210 cm (82 inches).

Since our winter started nearly two months earlier this season, I'm pretty much fed up with it and am praying for an early spring! Cabin fever is not an amusing thing *g*. But with the amount of snow I see outside, I'm thinking it'll be June before it all melts. God, I hope not! LOL!

Anyway, I took some pics yesterday starting in the morning around 9:00 am and then at different stages throughout the day as the storm progressed and then a few from this morning (Sunday) once it was all over.
